More than any other question, I am always asked by clients what they should wear to their family session. Coordinating your outfits can be a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be! I’ve put together some tips to help you create your own ensemble:

  1. Choose two main hues, and develop your color scheme around them. Use the brightest color — also known as the accent color — sparingly.  Coordinate your outfits, but don’t match.  Navy, yellows, browns, oranges, blues and reds are great for fall.
  2. Keep patterns and prints to a minimum. Subtle prints like hound’s tooth, polka dots, and abstract patterns can break up solid fall colors or neutrals and add great pops of color; however, too many of this in one image can be overwhelming.  So, stick to the bare minimum.
  3. Layer it up! Layers create visual interest and will keep you warm and cozy while we’re outside playing in the leaves. Think tights, cardigans, blazers, and scarves.
  4. Don’t forget accessories! Pieces like belts or a flowery headband for the kids will take your ensemble to the next level of cute.  If you’re stumped coordinating your outfits, don’t worry! I’m here to help. Let me know if you’re stuck.
